CHIRNSIDE Park will be in the market for a new coach at season’s end after parting ways with Leigh Horsburgh.

The decision came after the Panthers’ round 11 loss at Ringwood.

Chirnside Park president Justin Carusi declined to comment on the decision, out of respect to Horsburgh.

Horsburgh took charge of the Panthers prior to the 2013 season, but the club has struggled to move beyond the lower reaches of the Division 3 ladder.

He was just 27 years old at the time of the appointment, something the Panthers had hoped would give them something of an edge.

Chirnside Park finished 10th of 12 teams in Division 3 last season, with four wins from 18 outings, while this year it sits on one win after 13 rounds.

Carusi, a former coach of the club, will take the coaching reins until the end of the season, at which point the club will search for Horsburgh’s successor.

The Panthers are second-last on the ladder, ahead of winless Glen Waverley Hawks, and remain in relegation danger with five rounds to play.
