Rangeview Shops: Woman hit by car on corner of Vernal Ave

A woman has been rushed to The Alfred after she was struck by a car near a small shopping strip in Melbourne’s east.

A woman has been rushed to hospital after she was hit by a car near a Mitcham shopping strip this morning.

The 73-year-old Mitcham woman was crossing Vernal Ave at the corner of Mitcham Rd about 10.51am when she was struck by a turning car, according to police.

The woman was hit close to Rangeview Shopping Strip.

She was taken by ambulance to The Alfred with non-life threatening injuries.

An 86-year-old Mitcham woman was behind the wheel of the silver Ford focus sedan that hit the pedestrian.

Police say the driver told officers she didn’t see the woman crossing the road.

Police are still investigating the incident.
