Police nab green P-plater after they allegedly rolled car on bush track

A young man will be charged after he allegedly rolled his car on a bush track and then continued to drive it.

A green P-plater has been nabbed by police after he allegedly rolled his car near Healesville on Saturday.

Police intercepted the damaged vehicle on the Black Spur between Healesville and Narbethong about 2.05pm.

The allegedly unregistered vehicle had substantial damage and was detected on the spot by police.

Once intercepted, the driver allegedly told police he had rolled his car on an off-road bushtrack earlier in the day.

The 20-year-old has since posted a video to TikTok gaining thousands of view, likes and comments.

The video depicts the young driver being issued with a defective vehicle sticker and him having a laugh about sticking it onto his car.

A 20-year-old Mount Evelyn man is expected to be charged on summons with conduct endangering persons, careless driving, using an unregistered vehicle, and using a vehicle not complying to standards.

This vehicle intercept was part of Operation Regal, a statewide road policing operation over the King’s birthday long weekend.

The focus of the operation was on excessive or inappropriate speed, impaired driving, seatbelt noncompliance, driver distraction, disobeying traffic signs, and unauthorised driving.

Operation Regal ran for four days from 12.01am Friday June 9 to 11.59am Monday June 12.
