A Melbourne University PhD student has been accused of stalking a surgeon she had an affair with after she allegedly found his family online.
Rochelle Ye appeared before the Ringwood Magistrates Court on Monday facing stalking charges.
The court heard Ms Ye had an affair with a surgeon while she was working at an eastern suburbs hospital.
The pair allegedly exchanged sexually explicit images and had several physical encounters over a several month period in 2023.
After the end of the affair, Ms Ye allegedly contacted the surgeon multiple times after he asked her to stop and blocked one of her phone numbers.
Ms Ye then allegedly threatened to disclose the relationship to his wife.
The prosecution will allege that Ms Ye used several email addresses, Facebook accounts and phone numbers to contact the surgeon as well as his wife, and other family members.
The court heard in her correspondence to the victim’s wife Ms Ye mentioned details about the family’s children.
Ms Ye also allegedly sent an email to the surgeon from an email address that replicates the email address of his employer about the outcome of a HR investigation.
In her two and a half-hour police interview Ms Ye told police that some of the messages came from a friend but she denied telling the friend to contact the victim.
Police officers have tried to contact the friend, who lives in the United States, but have not been able to contact them.
She also said she found all the family members information online and did not hack the victim in her police interview.
Ms Ye plans to fight the stalking charges.
She will next appear before the Ringwood Magistrates Court on November 20 for a three day contested hearing.
