The latest stage of the Westfield Knox $355m redevelopment is well underway — and there are big names aplenty with nine new stores set to open this year — but the Herald Sun has been told there is still more to come.
Knox Westfield centre manager Kristian Nicholls said he was excited what the new stores would add to Knox
“I think our customers will be very happy with everything that is on the way,” he said.
“There is such a variety of new stores, there will be something for everyone.
Several new food retailers are almost ready to set up shop in the shopping centre.
Last week a Thailander restaurant opened in the food court, serving up authentic Thai cuisine.
Under construction next door is a Sandwich Chef.
Outside in the Ozone, popular chicken shop Nando’s will have a new restaurant.
Melbourne family run restaurant Sketti will be serving up Italian classics with a modern twist, while Martini and Co will be the newest drinking spot.
The Anytime Fitness gym will also be relocating to the Ozone.
Another family entertainment option, Flip Out indoor play centre and trampoline park will also join Maniax axe throwing outside.
Knox shoppers have also been celebrating the addition of Japanese clothing and homewares store MUJI, Japanese retailer Daiso and beauty store W Cosmetics.
The W Cosmetics store opened on Thursday, with MUJI and Daiso coming very soon.
Mr Nicholls said the Knox library addition had already been a big hit.
“Every afternoon after school we are seeing schools kids head up to the library to study along with university students and families,” he said.
“It has been such a great addition to the centre.”
Knox Mayor Jude Dwight said the library had been designed for community use.
“Having the state-of-the-art library inside Westfield Knox makes it even more accessible for the community,” she said.
“There are many purpose-built areas for community use, including a space for children, computer area, lounges, study booths and meeting rooms.”
The redevelopment has already seen the relocation of the food court, a new fashion precinct as well as a sporting centre and a basketball court.
Mr Nicholls said this was not the end of the massive redevelopment.
“There is still much more to come in the coming months,” he said.
“We can’t share out plans just yet, but there is still a lot of exciting additions to come.”
