Where to find the cheapest petrol in Victoria

Petrol prices continue to rise across the state with it becoming increasingly harder to fill up for less than $2 a litre. Here’s where you can find cheap fuel.

Australians predicted to spend up to an extra $12 billion on petrol this year

Consumers around the world are feeling the crippling pain of soaring fuel prices, partly driven by the war in Ukraine.

During Victoria’s first lockdown in 2020, petrol was at a low point of 89c on May 4 but has since risen dramatically.

While it appears that the new normal at the bowser will be north of $2, there are some parts of the state where filling up will be less painful than elsewhere.

A worst-case scenario could see petrol prices rocket to as much as $3 per litre later in the year, said Australasian Convenience and Petroleum Marketers Association chief executive Mark McKenzie.

With a price difference of up to 35c per litre across Victoria on Wednesday, it pays to shop around.
