EXACTLY six months after the Tecoma McDonald’s opened its doors to the public, the No Macca’s in the Dandenong Ranges protesters are still standing their ground.

This week marks six months since the controversial fast food store started serving up burgers and fries under the famous golden arches.

A handful of protesters can still be seen waving banners in front of the store in a bid to gain support for their continuing battle.

Belgrave Wizard and No Macca’s icon Baba Desi said the fight will continue until the store shuts its doors.

He said the group had committed to protesting between 9am and 10am every day.

“We are going to keep going until the fat lady sings,” Baba Desi said.

“There’s not many people going [to McDonald’s]. I think they’re losing money.

“Corporations are not small businesses.

“Small business should be the lifeblood of the country.

“With corporations the money goes to headquarters, it doesn’t help us at all.”

No Macca’s in the Dandenong Ranges spokesman Garry Muratore said the group wanted to “leave a legacy”, but wouldn’t leave until the McDonald’s closed.

“We haven’t gone away,” Mr Muratore said.
