A popular eastern suburbs restaurant and drinking spot close to the ‘Golden Mile’ has hit the market.
Michael Olsen, who runs Mitcham Social with his wife Kelly, said their “time was up” in the hospitality industry.
“We have both turned 60 and are more than happy to take a step back,” Mr Olsen said.
“It has been exciting to see what Mitcham Social has bought to the local community.”
Mr Olsen said they were looking for hospitality operators to purchase the space.
“The building is up for sale and the business can go along with the building,” he said.
“It would be great for someone to come in and keep Mitcham Social going or it could be an opportunity for a growing distiller or brewer who wants a presence in the east.”
Despite a long list of hospitality closures in recent months, Mr Olsen said cost of living pressures has not impacted their decision.
Mitcham Social has been advertised online as a “rare opportunity” for hospitality operators with the venue being sold with its existing fit out and food a liquor licenses.
“The property is being sold with the existing fit out including but not limited to the commercial kitchen, tables and chairs, commercial freezers and fridges and more,” the listing read.
“In addition to the fit out the subject property comes with all required licenses that allows any incoming business to operate as a food and beverage venue in Victoria.”
Mr Olsen said the venue will be closing for rennovations on June 30.
