A Melbourne insurance man who allegedly raped a woman has gone into social media hiding after the accusations against him emerged at court.
Wilhelm ‘Will’ Oppermann, 58, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with multiple alleged sexual offences.
Oppermann allegedly sexually violated a woman multiple times in Melbourne’s east in early-2020.
Police alleged Opperman raped the woman by intentionally penetrating her with his penis.
Oppermann also allegedly raped the woman’s anus and sexually assaulted the complainant.
Box Hill Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team members investigated the sex offending allegations before arresting Oppermann.
Oppermann, who said nothing during his brief initial court appearance, was charged by investigators on July 12 this year.
Oppermann, who is understood to have worked in the motor insurance industry, shut down social media accounts after he was made aware media was interested in his matter.
The court heard Oppermann was not a flight risk and should remain free on his own undertaking because he has “employment”.
Oppermann, a dad, remained on summons to front court at a later date.
