A BUNDOORA man was taken to hospital in a critical condition after allegedly doing twice the speed limit in a residential street in Templestowe.

The 25-year-old man rolled his car while allegedly doing 100km/h in a 50km/h zone on August 7.

The motorist entered Cliveden Court about 2pm where police say dashcam data showed him accelerating to 100km/h.

He lost control of his Holden Ute which smashed into a street light pole, snapping it at the base, before rolling and coming to a rest on the road.

MFB officers were required to get the driver out of the car before he was taken by ambulance to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with head, arm and possibly spinal injuries.

Police spoke to a witness at the scene and accessed the driver’s dashcam.

Nunawading Highway Patrol Sergeant Paul Egan said they’re now waiting for the results of a blood test and to interview the driver before taking further action.

He said other witnesses should contact police at Nunawading.

A motorist was taken to hospital with a head injury after trying to jump back into her new car when it started rolling backwards down her driveway on August 3.

The 60-year-old Park Orchards woman had pulled up at her Tindalls Rd home at 2pm and turned off her engine but failed to properly apply her hand brake before getting out of the car. The two-day old Mitsubishi Pajero started rolling backwards.

She tried to stop the vehicle but lost her balance while trying to get back into the car. She hit her head on the concrete driveway.

She was helped up by a witness who also managed to bring the car to a stop.

Nunawading Highway Patrol Sergeant Paul Egan said she was taken by ambulance to Box Hill Hospital for observation after sustaining a head injury.
