A popular pool in Melbourne’s northeast was forced to close after a patron suffered a medical emergency.
Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Templestowe Lower closed its pools on Monday afternoon after a man suffered a major medical emergency in its aquatics hall.
“W can confirm the patron fortunately left in a stable position and is now in the care of the responding emergency service providers,” the centre posted.
“In order to best support our staff who attended to the emergency, our aquatics hall will remain closed for the remainder of the day and will reopen at 5.30am Tuesday.”
Swim school and group fitness classes were also cancelled on Monday while the gym reopened after the emergency.
“Active Manningham appreciate the assistance of the responding emergency services and kindly requests respect for the privacy of those involved at this time,” the pool posted.
Ambulance Victoria said a man in his 60s with a medical condition was taken by road to Box Hill Hospital in a critical condition.
