A Lower Templestowe baker’s childhood in Chile has inspired her to help brides match their wedding cakes with their dress for the big day.
Linet Daskalou’s early passion for baking and the influence of growing up surrounded by her grandmother’s custom-made couture dresses fused to become a business idea after moving to Australia as a 13-year-old.
She began baking as a girl in southern Chile, and said she “had to be creative with the little resources available”.

Ms Daskalou said growing up with the influences of her mother and grandmother had driven her passion to create the cakes, which she called “works of art”.
And nearly 10 years ago her business, Linet’s Beautiful Cakes, was born.
Ms Daskalou prefers organic, high-quality ingredients and even uses much of her own produce — including edible flowers.
She said every part of her cakes were made from scratch.
The process starts with a consultation with the happy couple at least six months before the wedding, with a seasonal menu available for a tasting of up to 10 different flavours.

Once they’ve chosen a flavour, the bride supplies a sample of her dress, and Ms Daskalou designs the cake.
“My approach to all that I create comes from the desire to bring a smile to my client’s face,” she said.
Ms Daskalou said marriage equality had been a welcome reform for the industry.
“I have always been passionate about equality for all and the wedding industry now embraces everyone to fulfil their dreams,” she said.
