Heatherdale sporting clubs are celebrating getting their plans for the redevelopment of Heatherdale Pavilion off the ground after Labor matched the Liberal’s cash commitment for the project.
Deakin federal Labor candidate Shireen Morris last week announced an elected Labor Federal Government would invest $2 million in the new pavilion.

Her pledge came two weeks after Deakin federal Liberal MP Michael Sukkar revealed a re-elected Liberal Federal Government would inject $2 million into the project.
Heatherdale Cricket Club president Andrew Grealy said the announcement was “fantastic news”.
“It’s great to get both parties’ support for a much-needed project,” he said.
Mr Grealy said the Heatherdale sporting community was hugely excited the project “pretty much had a guaranteed $2 million” now both leading political parties had promised the cash.
The pavilion at Heatherdale Reserve was built in 1980 and does not provide change rooms for females, while it only has one toilet for women.
Mr Grealy said female players and umpires were having to get dressed in their cars.
He said the space was much too small for the more than 835 players from the multiple cricket and football clubs based at the reserve.
