Kmart has opened at Westfield Doncaster, replacing the former Target store.
Based on the ground level near Muffin Break, the new Kmart is open every day from 8am until 10pm.
The huge new store includes all the regular Kmart features, including a huge kids’ section, homewares and clothing.
It’s the latest Victorian Target store to be transformed into Kmart, with new stores opening in Camberwell and Epping this year.
Target previously announced it would be closing 10 to 25 large format Target stores and 50 Target Country stores over the next twelve months.
“We’re sorry to be leaving the Westfield Doncaster community and we hope it is not ‘goodbye’, but ‘See you soon’ on our online store Target.com.au after we close on March 20,” Target wrote on the Westfield Doncaster website.
Kmart Australia & New Zealand’s retail director, John Gualtieri, said: “As a business, we’re committed to opening stores in new communities and this week, we’re excited to welcome Kmart Doncaster to the family.
“The team have been working incredibly hard to bring this colourful new store to life and we’re proud to share it with the local community.
“It’s stocked full of great value, on-trend products that we know our customers are going to love.”
Mr Gualtieri said customers would be welcomed by some familiar faces, with 108 Target staff joining the Kmart team, along with an additional 54 team members from the local community.
