Kensington man arrested following alleged Chadstone, Westfield Doncaster spitting incidents

A man in his 60s has been charged after he allegedly spat on women at two major shopping centres in Melbourne’s east, with police tracking him down after gathering information from the public about his identity.

A man in his 60s is accused of spitting on women at two major Melbourne shopping centres

Doncaster police arrested the 62-year-old man at a house in Kensington on Tuesday, September 1 after a search in the area.

Sergeant Adam Dowling said officers tracked down the man after gathering information from the public about his identity.

The man allegedly spat on a woman at Chadstone shopping centre in Malvern East on March 20, and then another woman in a separate incident at Westfield Doncaster on July 22.

Officers interviewed the man and charged him with two counts of common law assault, unlawful assault and offensive behaviour in a public place.

The man was bailed to appear at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on the charges on December 17.
