“The last event we had was on Melbourne Cup Day, which was a bit washed out for cosplayers due to the wet weather so we’re hoping more people will come in costume this time around,” Mr Webb said.

“We know how much kids love to see their costumed heroes and there will be expert advice for making costumes as well.”

Other highlights include free cosplay fashion parades with prizes on offer, expert costume advice and a chance to sign up as an EA Games “playtester”.

There is also a $2 room with stacks of cheap merchandise ready to be snatched up by frugal fans.

“Keeping costs down is really important for us as we want this to be a family-friendly event,” Me Webb said.

“It a bit of an acknowledgment that there is a really large population of cosplayers they are not just the bloke sitting in his mum’s basement.”

Admission to ComiXpo is free for kids aged 12 or under and anyone in costume, while entry for civilians is $5.
