Heidelberg Theatre Company tackles The Drawer Boy comedy from Canada

Heidelberg Theatre Company has a long and proud history of bringing quality stories to life on the stage. Its latest show has a touch of the self-referential through a comedic lens.

Heidelberg Theatre Company delves into the lives of dairy farmers in Ontario for its latest production, The Drawer Boy.

Director Karen Wakeham brings 10 years of experience to the award-winning adaptation of Canadian Michael Healey’s contemporary story told through a self-referential, comedic lens.

“I’m very happy with the show, people will love it and it’s really worth coming to,” Ms Wakeham said.

The company has become a staple within Melbourne community theatre since it opened in 1952.

“The company has an immense loyal following and it’s grown steadily over the years,” Ms Wakeham said.

She has been involved in community and independent theatre for more than 10 years and directed Private Lives in the 2018 season at the theatre company.

The Drawer Boy is the second last show of the company’s 2019 season.

The play is on until September 21, with tickets available online.
