A jittery hairdresser who plies her trade across Melbourne’s easter suburbs has been busted over her meth side hustle.

These are Victoria's meth hotspots

A drug-dealing Melbourne hairdresser’s nerves gave away her criminal behaviour when she was pulled over by police officers during routine traffic stops.

Deana Gray, who rents a chair in salons across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, pleaded guilty to drug possession and trafficking meth in the Ringwood Magistrates Court on Monday.

The court heard Gray, 38, was pulled over on February 7, 2022 during routine traffic stops, where officers noticed Gray appeared “nervous and shaky”.

Gray admitted to recent drug use and police officers searched her car, where they found

6.9 grams, valued at $2100, $850 cash and her phone revealed texts detailing drug deals.

Gray told police the $850 cash was a gift from her boss for travelling from work but police found no evidence of this.

The hairdresser’s home was later searched and more drugs were uncovered.

Police located 4 zip lock bags of cannabis, oxycodone tablets and a small amount of GHB.

The court heard Gray was dealing the meth to support her own drug addiction.

Gray was convicted and was sentenced to a 12 month community corrections order, with 100 hours of community work.
