Glen Waverley: Female passenger dies after Glen Tower Drive crash

A female passenger has died after she was critically injured when a car crashed into a tree in Glen Waverley.

A woman has died and a man has been seriously hurt after a car crashed into a tree on the outskirts of Glen Waverley.

According to police, the duo were in a Holden Captiva when it suddenly hit a curb and then crashed into a tree on Glen Tower Drive about 7pm on Tuesday.

The street is located between Gallaghers Rd and High Street Rd, and is not far from Napier Park.

Emergency services and nearby residents rushed to assist at the scene, and the duo were taken to hospital.

The female passenger suffered critical injuries and later died, while the male driver was seriously hurt and remains in hospital under police guard.

The woman’s death brings Victoria’s 2022 road toll to 199 lives, 26 higher than the 173 lives at the same time last year.
