A Melbourne man who told his girlfriend to “get the stuff out of the house” once police closed the net on both has owned up to charges of trafficking in cocaine and cannabis.

Jonade Hamidi pleaded guilty to charges of trafficking cocaine, cannabis and negligently dealing with $259,010 being the proceeds of crime in the County Court on Monday.

His ex, glamorous dog groomer Illi Grover, gave evidence against Hamidi in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court during his committal last year.

She was handed a 12-month good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to charges of cannabis possession and negligently dealing with proceeds of crime in June last year.

Hamidi contacted Glover after he was intercepted in a red BMW in Pine Hill Drive on October 28, 2021.

He did a runner towards Santa Rosa Blvd after police stopped the suspected drug trafficker.

Hamidi was arrested in the backyard of a Doncaster East property shortly after.

He told Glover to “get the stuff out of the house” then leave and emphasised to her to remove the “bags from his office and the safe in the bedroom”.

In court during a plea hearing on Monday, his lawyer Sam Tovey said Hamidi had had a complex history that dated back to his early teenage years.

Hamidi constant sought refuge in alcohol and had had episodes of mental health decline, Mr Tovey told the court.

However, Mr Tovey said over the last two years in particular Hamidi had been compliant with his medication, received psychological treatment on a regular basis, remained drug free, and had begun focusing on the next chapter in his life with the support of his family.

Hamidi wanted to get into the hospitality business, he said, and had been working with a close friend who was present in court.

Hamidi’s sentencing date is yet to be set.

In her case in the Magistrates’ Court last year, Glover said Hamidi was “very charming and very kind” after they first met at a nightclub in 2019.

“He would always try to lure me in with expensive gifts and lavish dinner dates,” Glover said.
