A woman has been taken to hospital after she fell into a pool-sized hole at the site of a home renovation in Doncaster.
Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the home in Caringal Ave following the incident at 2pm on Tuesday.
North Balwyn Fire Rescue Victoria station officer Phil Grey said a hole was being dug out to put in a swimming pool in the backyard as part of the renovations.
Mr Grey said the woman accidentally lost her footing and fell into the hole in unknown circumstances and suffered a significant bump on her head.
She was plucked to safety by firefighters from Nunawading’s rescue unit, and nearby neighbours also watched on from nearby after they were alerted to the commotion on site.
“It could have been significantly worse but she dodged a bullet with this one,” Mr Grey said.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the woman, whose age is yet to be confirmed, was taken to Box Hill Hospital with minor upper body injuries and was believed to be in a stable condition.
The woman’s husband, Adrian, who was working on the renovation, told Leader his wife appeared to be OK and would know more when he visited her in hospital.
