Couples are rediscovering romance and singles on dating hiatus are finding help as coronavirus locks us down. And a surprise kit has emerged as the fan favourite in online sales.

Self-isolators are spicing up their enforced stay-at-home quarantine, with Sexyland recording a 80 per cent surge in online sales.

And it’s couples and single women behind rocketing sales.

National sales and marketing manager Rebecca Grech said customer feedback showed people considered sex shops essential.

“You have your food, shelter and some form of sexual outlet is required,” Ms Grech.

“We have a quickie one to two-hour delivery service that’s getting smashed,” Ms Grech said.

“People are at home and bored … and looking for entertainment.”

She said the shops were still open to give people help and advice, but many people were adhering to government advice and staying home.

She said single people were finding ways around the dating hiatus with self-stimulation toys.

But there was a surprise for the most in-demand product.

“Soft fetish kits for couples account for the top six most popular products online.”

These introduction to bondage sets are all a bit different but can include blind folds, hand cuffs, soft rope, ticklers and sexy dice.

“I guess it’s date night at home,” Ms Grech said.

Self-help products and vibrators are other items flying off the shelves, and there had been a huge increase in pelvic floor fitness equipment, she said.

“The sale of self-help products has increased because I guess people have some time on their hands,” Ms Greech said.

Board games were also sold out with couples trying to spice things up, she said.

She said multiple vibrator types were selling out with the rates of women buying the toys almost at the same rate as men.

REMEMBER THESE PUBS IN MELBOURNE’S EAST?

“Males have always bought self-stimulation products in a huge quantity,” Ms Grech said.

“Now women are buying up, too.”

She said shops remained open with social distancing of 1.5m, hand sanitiser, and staff constantly cleaning and disinfecting shops.
