With tennis aces Rafael Nadal and Ash Barty wowing fans at Melbourne Park inspired families are discovering it is never too early for youngsters to pick up a racquet.

And thanks to Sporteka coach Fatima Tawfek children as young as three can start the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program in Box Hill and Doncaster East.

They’ll be using smaller equipment on modified courts as they go through learning stages that suit their size and skill level.

Ms Tawfek said the program “grows with the child”.

“It’s amazing to see what the young ones achieve over the years they’re involved in the program. Parents’ persistence and belief in their child’s ability to learn is key to the future development of skills and confidence,” she said.

“Parents who have a positive attitude towards learning, make an effort to attend class regularly and take time out to enjoy play with their child during the session, are the most inspirational role models a child can have.”
