COMMUTERS planning to use a popular bus route in Melbourne’s east tomorrow might want to make other plans.
Buses running on route 612, which travels between Box Hill and Chadstone via Surrey Hills, Camberwell and Glen Iris, will not be running due to a planned industrial strike.
Public Transport Victoria (PTV) chief executive Jeroen Weimar encouraged passengers to consider travelling by train or delaying their movements.
“We ask passengers to consider deferring their travel if possible, or look for alternative arrangements,” he said.

“It’s disappointing that this action will be going ahead as it will cause real inconvenience to many of our bus passengers.”
Almost 600 CDC Victoria bus drivers will walk off the job for 24 hours, unhappy with an offer of a 2.5 per cent pay rise — with the Transport Workers Union demanding at least a 4 per cent pay increase.
The planned action will go ahead after bus operator CDC Victoria and the union failed to reach an agreement in the lead-up.
Bus services in Melbourne’s west, inner east, southeast and in Ballarat and Geelong are set to be affected.
Trains, trams and other bus services not operated by CDC will run as normal.
There are eight bus routes in Monash affected by the strike.
Apart from route 612, the others are:
— Route 601 from Huntingdale to Monash Uni shuttle
— Route 623 from Glen Waverley to St Kilda
— Route 624 from Kew to Oakleigh
— Route 625 from Elsternwick to Chadstone
— Route 626 from Middle Brighton to Chadstone
— Route 630 from Elwood to Monash University
— Route 900 from Rowville to Caulfield
