Four teens have been arrested and charged after they allegedly threatened a man at knifepoint, stole his car and were chased by police throughout Melbourne’s east and north.

According to police, the four teens aged between 14 and 16 approached a 40-year-old man who had parked his car on Collins St in Box Hill on May 5 at 2.40am.

The teens allegedly threatened the man with a knife, dragged him out of his car, a white Suzuki Baleno, and drove off.

Police then identified the allegedly stolen car on Ford St, Ivanhoe at 10.30am and called in the Air Wing to help with its pursuit of the teens.

The car was followed by the helicopter as it allegedly travelled throughout the northern and eastern suburbs at high speed, before it stopped on Eel Race Rd in Chelsea.

Officers on the ground quickly responded and arrested the four teens, including a 14-year-old, two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old, inside the car.

One of the 15-year-olds was charged with aggravated carjacking, thefts, reckless conduct, dangerous driving and traffic offences.

The remaining three boys were each charged with aggravated carjacking and theft offences.

The four boys were remanded in custody and will face a children’s court at a later date.
