Online retail giant Amazon Australia has opened a distribution hub in Melbourne’s southeast, creating hundreds of flexible job opportunities.
The distribution centre in Mulgrave, will serve as a new pick up point for Amazon Flex delivery partners and allow the company to better service customers in Melbourne’s southeast and east.
The company has created hundreds of flexible earning opportunities through its innovative delivery program Amazon Flex.
Amazon Flex launched in Melbourne in February, with hundreds of individuals now signed up as delivery partners, earning extra cash in their free time delivering Amazon packages to customers.
Amazon Australia operations director Craig Fuller said the opening of the hub would speed up delivery for customers in the area.
“We can provide hundreds more Melburnians the chance to earn extra money delivering for Amazon Flex, especially at a time when we know there is an increased need for flexible earning opportunities,” Mr Fuller said.
“We look forward to being an active member of the community,” he said.
Monash Mayor Stuart James welcomed the arrival of Amazon Australia in Monash and the increased job opportunities.
“Monash is a significant centre for jobs, business and innovation, identified as a National Employment and Innovation Cluster,” Cr James said.
“The decision by Amazon Australia to establish a new distribution hub in Monash and in doing so, provide significant job opportunities for local and wider communities, is fantastic news particularly at this challenging time,” he said.
