Mildura Senior Constable Bria Joyce, killed in a tragic car crash, has been taken to her final resting place, as a state MP pays tribute to her in parliament.

Senior Constable Joyce, 25, died in a horrific crash in Red Cliffs on April 8.

State Independent member for Mallee, Ali Cupper, paid tribute to Senior Constable Joyce in parliament.

Ms Cupper said that the tragedy "rippled through the community" causing "bewilderment" and "grief".

"When the first picture of Bria was released reality set in even more. The image of Bria in her police uniform the day she graduated from the academy was quite literally a picture of pride, accomplishment and a future wide open," she said.

Ms Cupper said that "nothing could compare" to the loss felt by Bria's partner of three years and her mother.

"It was a reminder of the risk and sacrifice inherent in policing," she said.

She added "Bria was the best of the best."

Ms Cupper said that the "harrowing" funeral was a "celebration of Bria's life" that was attended by friends and family from all over the county, she said Senior Constable Kinnane, who was injured in the collision, watched on from his bed at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Bria's ashes were transported back to her home in Tamworth by her partner on Monday.

Last month, a massive crowd, thick with the formal blue of dressed uniforms, gathered for a heartbreaking but fitting funeral for such a tragically short life.

Hundreds of mourners lined the streets of her community, in north-west Victoria, to pay their respects.

Constable Joyce received full police honours in a moving service that spread hundreds of metres as police motorbikes, horses and pipers led the guard and officers saluted their fallen colleague.

The police air wing flew over the guard as it marched the streets while Constable Joyce’s closest family and friends walked behind the hearse that carried her coffin.

Constable Joyce’s partner issued a statement on behalf of his family before the service.

It read: “Bria’s extended family, friends, and I are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Bria. We ask for privacy at this very tough time to come to terms with our loss.”

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews also paid tribute to the fallen officer, saying “her commitment, her passion, her service and sacrifice lives on”.

“To her family, to her workmates and friends, our deepest sympathies and condolences,” he said.

Police from around the state also honoured her with their own tributes at their own stations.

Police from Swan Hill and Melbourne diverted traffic so Mildura police could attend the service.

Victoria Police said the entire force’s thoughts were with Bria’s loved ones, colleagues and her community.

Constable Joyce had served for six years before she was killed. Josh Moore, 23, also died.
