Pizza and bodybuilding is an unlikely combination but it’s paid off for brothers Paul and George Jayiliam.

The lifelong Frankston residents opened Yummy Pizza and Kebabs at the Lakewood Estate 21 years ago, and also hold down Rosebud’s Empire Fitness gym.

World champion bodybuilder Paul runs the gym and George sorts out the meals, but the brothers regularly come together with father Paul and their eight children to keep orders churning on busy nights.

“I’ve got the body of the pizza shop owner,” George told the Leader.

“We've always had the passion for food and we both decided to start a business and it just went from there.”

The hugely popular shop has been a hit in the family orientated estate, with loyal customers voting the business in as the Leader’s best pizza shop in Frankston.

“It’s a great honour, since we’ve been with Yummy for 21 years now … family is so important to us,” George said.

“I’ve got customers I’ve known for two decades and I’ve seen their kids grow up and thrive and get married … our customers are so nice, they’ll always drop in for a chat.”

The shop’s hottest order is the lamb souvlaki pizza, topped with tomato, cheese, onion, garlic yoghurt sauce and lamb cut straight from the spit.

“I’m going out on a limb when I say I created the souvlaki pizza 15 years ago,” George said.

“Other shops do it but they don’t do it better than us, we don’t use frozen meats or anything like that. We cut it off the spit.”

George said his brother Paul downs one loaded protein pizza per week and still maintains his chiselled physique.

More customer favourites include the Halal snack pack and delicious home made pastas.

“We thrive on customer satisfaction … we wouldn’t have succeeded for so long without our loyal customers,” George said.

Yummy Pizza offers pick-up and delivery at Shop 5, 300 Heatherhill Rd Frankston.
