Three members of the same family have been charged over an allegedly terrifying assault of a man where they allegedly threatened to “put a shell” in his head.

Three members of the same family have been accused of a savage gang attack on a man where a shotgun was allegedly fired next to his head.

Kail Alderton, his cousin Ritchie Alderton-Hastie, 18 and his aunty Melissa Hastie were refused bail when they fronted court on Wednesday charged over the alleged brutal attack on a 49-year-old Wyuna man last week.

Mr Alderton, Mr Alderton-Hastie and Ms Hastie drove to a property on McManus St, Wyuna at 10pm on February 17.

Police alleged that the trio demanded the man return an allegedly stolen black Dodge located at his address they claimed belongs to Ms Hastie.

When he said it was his, they allegedly bashed him before hitting him in the face and the back of his head with the barrel of a shotgun.

The man was “severely beaten”, before he was sprayed in the face and mouth with black spray paint, the court heard.

It is alleged they then threatened to kill the man, with Mr Alderton accused of saying: “Shall I put a shell into your head?” before he allegedly fired a shot from his shotgun roughly 30cms from the alleged victim’s head.

The alleged assault was filmed on camera by Mr Alderton and was later seized by police, the court heard.

The video allegedly shows the threat to kill and also the trio allegedly stomping on the man’s head, the court heard.

The trio then allegedly fled the scene and were later arrested following raids in Bendigo and Shepparton.

Police seized two firearms, a samurai sword, shoes with blood splatter and various ammunition allegedly belonging to Mr Alderton.

Mr Alderton, 26, and Ms Hastie, 48, have both been charged with recklessly cause serious injury in circumstances of gross violence, common law assault, assault in company, possess loaded firearm other place with reckless disregard, use loaded firearm in a non-public place with reckless disregard for safety.

Ms Hastie and Mr Alderton-Hastie, 18, have both been charged with recklessly cause serious injury.

Mr Alderton is also facing charges of prohibited person possess a firearm and possess cannabis, while the 18-year-old man faces a prohibited person use a firearm charge.

Ms Alderton-Hastie, of Shepparton, is also charged with firearm – possess/carry/use unreg cat A or B longarm, burglary, without authority/excuse enter private place and criminal damage (intent damage/destroy).

They will all reappear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on June 11.
