A man has been charged with murder following the death of an 80-year-old man in Castlemaine on Monday.
Homicide Squad detectives charged the 53-year-old Castlemaine man after finding an elderly man dead inside his Wimble Street home about 10.45am.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the pair knew each other.
The 53-year-old will appear at the Bendigo Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The man had been taken into custody on Monday afternoon as VICSES volunteers assisted investigators at the scene.
Homicide squad detectives could be seen probing the Wimble Street home for evidence on Monday morning.
