A pedophile talked about kidnapping Bendigo kids he photographed with another child predator he met by leaving his phone number in a public toilet, a court has heard.

Phillip Crosley Howie, 60, pleaded guilty at Bendigo Magistrates'’ Court to producing and distributing child abuse material.

Police busted the pedo when they raided his Kangaroo Flat home in May, exposing his predatory behaviour towards Bendigo children since at least June 2023.

Police revealed Howie had been stalking and covertly photographing kids around Bendigo.

Howie took multiple photos of prepubescent children at the Bendigo Show Grounds and in a medical clinic waiting room in 2023.

He was also exposed taking pictures of kids at Lansell Square in Kangaroo Flat, photographing a child who was sitting with her knees up, exposing her underwear.

He also stalked two pre-pubescent girls in Kangaroo Flat Kmart and photographing them which was caught on CCTV.

During the raid on the pedo’s house, police uncovered sexualised messages discussing or transmitting child abuse material on multiple Facebook Messenger accounts where Howie either posed as a child, or as the guardian of a young child.

The court heard Howie participated in an online pedophile group on Facebook where he spoke to other pedos and distributed an image of a child he took in Kangaroo Flat at Lansell Square.

“She got her legs wide open sitting on the floor,” he wrote.

He also tried to order a sex doll of one of the prepubescent girls that he photographed.

The court heard Howie had left his phone number on the wall of a Bendigo public toilet which resulted in sexualised conversations about child abuse with another grub.

In one message Howie had made a “promise” to bring children to the unknown male, the court heard.

Police uncovered a text conversation where Howie had discussed taking an 11-year-old girl from Kangaroo Flat and giving her to a man for sexual acts.

They also discussed abducting one of the pre-pubescent girls he had photographed so they could sexually abuse her.

Howie had spent 167 days in custody since his arrest and a psychological assessment while on remand had found him likely to have pedophilic disorder.

Magistrate Trieu Huynh said Howie would be jailed with a non-parole period, but adjourned the case for further psychological assessments to help determine an appropriate sentence.
