Nine arrested after chaotic scenes at Red Energy Arena Bendigo

Parents couldn’t pick up their kids from Bendigo Stadium as police arrested nine thugs after chaotic scenes erupted in the carpark.

Scared parents were told to keep their kids inside a regional basketball stadium, as nine thugs ran amok during a wild night in Bendigo

Police were called to reports of a group of men causing trouble at the Red Energy Arena car park on Inglis St, West Bendigo about 7pm on Thursday.

Parents were unable to pick up their kids from sporting activities as the incident unfolded.

Nine males were arrested in the car park of Bendigo Stadium on Thursday after reports of stabbing, however no victim came forward and they were released without charge.

One parent said her kids had been told to stay inside the stadium, while a witness said a group of people had chased others with weapons.

Police arrested nine men and released the group without charge pending further investigations.

No victims have come forward.

On the same night a police attended a home invasion on Helms St, Kangaroo Flat about 8.30pm where a man was bashed.

The Herald Sun is not suggesting the two incidents are linked.

The victim was no longer at the property when police arrived.

Several police divisional cars locked down the street.

“Investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident,” a police spokesman said.

The investigation into both separate incidents remains ongoing.
