A Bendigo man accused of smearing faeces inside a cop car after he was arrested has been refused bail.
Matthew Drew, 30, faced Bendigo Magistrate’s Court this week via videolink from prison on a string of charges.
Police allege Drew was arrested in October for allegedly breaking into a property and stealing a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
It is alleged Drew rammed the alleged victim’s car when they chased after him so many times it was unsafe to drive.
Drew then allegedly ran into a near-by paddock and broke into the property, allegedly grabbing a pair of scissors before cutting his pant legs.
The owner of the home, who had been dropping her children at school, found Drew allegedly hiding under a blanket with her children’s socks in his hands.
Police will allege when Drew realised the alleged victim was there he yelled out “boo”.
The alleged victim then took him to her boss, who police say Drew assaulted before he fled the scene and was later arrested.
Once in custody police allege Drew started yelling and undressed himself before smearing faeces over the inside of the police car.
The court heard Drew was suffering from a degenerative eye condition and an auto-immune disease.
Mr Kelly refused to grant bail as he was satisfied Drew would reoffend.
“He poses an unacceptable risk of reoffending,” Mr Kelly said.
Drew returns to court in April 11.
