Jake Fowke threatens teen girls after accessing their nudes

A grub made a staggering $380k from vulnerable teens after hacking their socials and demanding payment and nudes during a vile sexual blackmail campaign.

A vile control freak hacked the social media accounts of young girls, locked them out and threatened to expose their nudes if they didn’t give him money or perform sexual acts on video calls, a court has heard.

Jake Dilan Fowke, 33, of Bendigo, engaged in the vile sexual blackmail campaign between April and September 2021 when he hacked at least 42 social media accounts and victimised girls as young as 14.

He was sentenced in the County Court on Friday to a minimum of three years’ imprisonment after earlier pleading guilty to a raft of charges.

The court heard that Fowke used two mobile phones to trick his victims into gaining access to their social media accounts, locking them out then making demands before allowing them to regain access to their accounts.

Fowke told an undercover cop he had earned about $360,000 from the offending which he used to buy a house in Queensland. He said he had been offending for three years and not just six months the charges covered.

He told a psychologist he was aware that his actions were illegal but said they gave him a sense of “power and control” which he lacked in life due to him being controlled by his ex-wife.

Fowke demanded nudes, videos of the young girls performing sexual acts, strip shows via Facetime and cash.

He posted nude photographs of one victim on her social media account publicly when she wouldn’t comply with his demands, and called another victim a “b--ch” and “stupid dumb s--t” as he threatened to send her nudes to her family if she didn’t comply with his demands.

“You were motivated by a desire to access their social media account and to menace or threaten exposure of their private material in return for you giving them back access to their own account,” Judge Claire Quin said.

“Clearly you were seeking control and power over them. In most cases, the victims were young female children.”

Fowke was sentenced to a maximum term of five years and five months’ imprisonment.
