A violent criminal slashed a Maryborough woman with a box cutter during an attempted carjacking and robbed another woman at an ATM.
Gurlal Singh, 29, pleaded guilty at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to robbing two women at knifepoint, sending one to hospital.
Singh mugged a 39-year-old woman on Tuaggra St, Maryborough about 6.30pm on April 21, demanding she hand over the keys to her car before “slashing her with a box cutter”.
The woman was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Singh later robbed a 46-year-old woman about 7pm on High St, Maryborough while she was trying to deposit cash into an ATM.
Singh fled the area in a taxi, before he was arrested on the Pyrenees Highway.
Singh pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated carjacking, intentionally causing injury, theft and dealing with proceeds of crime.
He made no application for bail and he was remanded in custody ahead of his next court date at Bendigo County Court in February, 2025.
