Elderly Sedgwick woman allegedly attacked, puppies stolen in callous burglary

Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in the callous theft of four puppies from an elderly woman in Central Victoria. But the news about her dogs isn’t as good.

Police have arrested a 34-year-old man allegedly involved in the callous theft of four puppies from an elderly woman in Central Victoria.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Creina O’Grady said a 34-year-old man had been charged with aggravated burglary, theft and assault in connection to an attack on June 20.

Ms O’Grady said a 82-year-old woman was pushed to the ground by a man after two strangers broke into her Springs Rd home, in Sedgwick. 16km southeast of Bendigo.

The pair allegedly stole four puppies, a bordoodle, a cavoodle, a British bulldog and a Maltese-shitzu cross, from inside her home.

The dogs have not been located.

The 82-year-old woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Ms O’Grady said a 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with aggravated burglary, theft and assault.

He will appear at the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on August 24.

Ms O’Grady said anyone with any additional information was urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
