Students have been ordered to hide in their classrooms after a lockdown was initiated at a Bendigo high school.
Bendigo South East Secondary College was sent into lockdown at 12.57pm on Monday when a group of teenage boys entered the school, allegedly threatening to bash a student.
The student reportedly had to be hidden in a storeroom for his safety.
One student sent her mother a message saying “My school is on lockdown and they’re making me hide” and “I’m scared, I don’t want to die”.
Principal Glen Donald sent an email to parents saying that “all students and staff are safe”.
“The lockdown was due to persons in the BSE precinct that could have impacted our community,” he stated.
“Although there was no immediate threat to students, I did want to make sure we could ensure the full safety of everyone.
“During this time the principal team worked tougher with Victoria Police to ensure the safety of our BSE community was maintained.”
Police confirmed officers were not required to attend.
