Armed robbers have kneecapped a victim with a hammer during a brutal home invasion in Bendigo.
Two men entered a home on MacDougall Rd, Golden Square on Friday, February 14 about 3.30am armed with a hammer.
The crims threatened residents before striking one on the knee with the hammer.
The pair stole cash, a phone and other property.
One of the victims said they had been left traumatised by the brutal robbery.
“We are always paranoid and couldn’t sleep properly from last week,” the victim said.
“My roommates have mental trauma as they are always scared and their daily life is disturbed.
The victim said they felt “helpless” because current bail and sentencing laws would see the violent offenders released back into the community.
