Anti-bikie cops raided a drug den set up in the heart of a Bendigo family’s home, uncovering $12,550 in cash and a small arsenal of weapons, a court has heard.

Troy Cain, 37, appeared in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court last week to plead guilty to trafficking methylamphetamines following the raid on September 4 2020.

Court documents revealed the drug dealer was asleep on his couch when Echo Taskforce and Bendigo police officers swarmed his Eaglehawk home.

Cain, his partner and three young children lived in the main house, while a drug den was at the rear of the property.

Investigators found a zip-lock bags containing methylamphetamines, $4150 in cash, two glass pipes, a used syringe and lens cleaning wipes.

A black velcro ballistic vest “body armour” was found at the property, while a tomahawk was left chopped into the frame of the building.

Police also found a hunting knife snuggled in the couch cushions and a homemade machete with a duct-taped handle and a metal arrowhead attached was left leaning next to the door.

An extendable baton, a crow bar and a baseball bat were found in his car.

A stolen licence plate was left on the coffee table, while “home made’ Victorian registration plates were found in a drawer.

A total of $12,550 was found at the property, with cash left in his Red Toyota and a handbag in the bathroom,

Cain told police $4800 was from the sale of a boat earlier that week.

But a mobile phone handed to police uncovered text chains of evidence of Cain’s trafficking network.

Cain also pleaded guilty to helping his mate escape the law in a high speed police chase in April 2019.

Court documents said Cain picked up his friend, who was being chased by police on foot after abandoning his vehicle in Bendigo.

Cain was driving a car with false Western Australian plates when police activated lights and sirens to get him to pull over.

Instead the Eaglehawk man sped down the wrong side of the road and refused to stop.

Cain appeared in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday August 25 to plead guilty to trafficking methylamphetamine, drug possession, possessing prohibited weapons, dealing with the proceeds of crime, handling stolen goods, failure to stop for police, driving with false plates, unregistered driving, unlicensed and disqualified driving,

He was sentenced to an 18 month corrections order and was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid community work.
