Tom Green: Meet the local music star touring Australia with world famous group, The Ten Tenors

A young Dalyston performer touring Australia with The Ten Tenors is proof “dreams can come true”. See how this man has inspired inspiring so many.

A Daylston musician has been selected from hundreds to join a world famous singing ensemble on national tour.

Tom Green, 28, has been instrumental to the music and performance scene in the Bass Coast having participated in countless musicals, performances and teaching the next generation of stars.

Now Mr Green has been catapulted onto the world stage after he was accepted into the renowned singing ensemble, The Ten Tenors.

Mr Green said he was honoured to be joining the group and he hoped it served as a lesson to his students that dreams can come true.

“Hard work and dedication pays off,” he said.

“Your dreams can come true in that Disney sense.”

The Ten Tenors have toured worldwide, been seen by more than 90 million people and attracted a vast international fanbase by performing a unique combination of classical and contemporary music featuring ten-part harmonies.

Their latest tour titled, The Highway Men, is six weeks long and will take Mr Green to every state apart from Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

Mr Green was selected from hundreds of other auditionees through rounds of video auditions and interviews.

“I was honoured to be selected. I am excited to tour and travel and see everything,” he said.

“All the other guys are absolutely amazing.”

Mr Green owns and teaches at a music studio in Dalyston called Green Room Concept Studios as well as teaching at local schools.

The studio offers lessons in guitar, piano, voice, drums and ukulele as well as offering bands and classes for “mini-musicians”.

Mr Green began singing and performing when he was about 12 and said he has “always loved it”.

“I always had a guitar in my hands,” he said.

“I was lucky enough to have parents that supported me and helped me to pursue it (music).”

Mr Green has an array of musical qualifications under his belt and studied a Bachelor of Music degree at Monash University

He has performed around the South Gippsland region and Melbourne, as well as worked in Sydney with some of Australia’s leading musical theatre producers, directors, musical directors and performers on New Australian theatre works.

Mr Green is well known in the local musical theatre scene having performed lead roles in shows like ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ for which he was awarded ‘most outstanding leading male’ and also received the ‘Gladys Moncrieff Award’ for first-time performance in a featured role.

He has also performed locally as the lead in Les Miserable and been on international TV for singing at the World Superbikes Grand Final on Phillip Island.

He has performed at Hisense Arena, The Hayes Theatre in Sydney and live on The Project.

Mr Green is most excited for when the tour comes to Melbourne in August and he gets to perform at the Palais Theatre.

“All my family and friends will be there to see me so that will be really special,” he said.

“I love performing, I love sharing my passion with people who appreciate it.”
