National Threatened Species Day is held on September 7 each year. It is a date commemorating the death of the last known Tasmanian Tiger in 1936 and an opportunity to reflect and think about how to protect our unique Australian fauna and flora.
There are many organisations that work with the Victorian government to protect threatened species throughout the state.
There are now more than 80 threatened species in the state. See 10 of them here.
By staying up to date on conservation events in your local area, donating to Zoos Victoria, and doing what you can to educate yourself and others about threatened species you can help prevent the extinction of many species.
