The Sale Airshow has taken off this Anzac Day weekend, showcasing awe-inspiring aircraft displays, thrilling aerobatic demonstrations and a celebration of aviation history.
The West Sale Airport welcomed crowds from 9am on Saturday and Sunday, featuring all different types of demonstrations with planes, cars and a commando skydivers special.
Aviation enthusiasts were in for a treat, where the show offered an up-close and personal experience with an incredible array of aircraft, from RAAF and aerobatic planes to commercial and recreational flying machines.
The Armed Forces Museum, Matt Mingay and the Hot Wheels Stunt team, the Royal Flying Doctor Service display, combat flights, helicopter joy flights, the Tecnam display and Bristell display were just some of the many line-ups guests experienced.
The event — which is held every two years — recreated the magic of flight with stunning displays, presenting wings of all shapes and sizes.
Event director Nicholas Heath said ahead of the event the team were thrilled to bring back the Anzac Day weekend airshow to “The Middle of Everywhere” and build on the success from 2022’s airshow.
“We are planning for an even bigger event this time around, with hopes to be known as the best ‘little’ airshow in Australia,” Mr Heath said.
Matt Mingay and the stunt team have also travelled to major events across Australia and are known for their electrifying
and show-stopping performances, full of precision driving and jaw-dropping stunts with unique performance vehicles and motorbikes.
“We’ve expanded this year’s event a considerable amount, with a real focus on delivering attractions that the whole family can come down and enjoy,” Mr Heath said.
The “Wing & Heels” fashion show was also running on both days, and entrants were encouraged to dress in their fanciest attire and give their best Maverick impersonation for their chance to win some prizes.
The Herald Sun was there to capture pictures of the crowd enjoying the exciting demonstrations.
