A Gippsland family is mourning the loss of a second son after their youngest child was tragically killed in a car crash near Sale.

Toongabbie’s Gary White, 27, died after his vehicle collided with a tree on Riversdale Rd in Riverslea about 4am on July 11.

The White family’s oldest son James died in 2014.

An emotional Glengarry Football Netball Club president Alan Whitty, who broke down in tears, said Gary was a “much-loved larrikin”.

The club will pay tribute to him on Thursday night.

“He had the world in front of him,” Mr Whitty said.

“Everyone spoke so highly of him.”

Gary’s brother Rob said there were “no words” to express how it felt losing another sibling.

“Life will never, ever be the same without you,” he wrote on Facebook.

“Your smile was infectious and your banter never failed to make me laugh.”

Rob said Gary had a cheeky grin that let him “get away with anything”.

“I know it’ll be the same [in heaven],” he said.

“The only comfort in all this is the hope that you’re finally reunited with James and the two of you are running an absolute muck.”

Natalie Airey said her heart was “completely broken”.

“I was only talking to you on the phone Saturday night when you answered with ‘ringa ding ding, you’ve called the king’ and made me laugh just like you always did,” she said on Facebook.

“Who knew it was going to be the last time.”

Ms Airey said Garry had a lot to look forward to in life.

“It’s going to be a different world without you and your big smile in it,” she said.

“This world can be one cruel place.”

Toongabbie Cricket Club paid their respects to the successful cricketer.

“Gary was a dearly loved person around our club,” they said.

“Gary’s presence was always felt with his smile and cheek that will forever be missed.”

The club said Gary had played with them since he was a junior cricketer and had a pivotal role in their most recent premiership in 2019.

Glengarry Football Netball Club also paid tribute to the young man on Facebook.

“Our hearts are all aching for the hole that he has left,” they said.

“Although Gaz hadn’t played in a couple of seasons after a knee injury, he was a constant smiling face around the club and a great friend to all.”

A GoFundMe page, that was set up on Monday, has already raised more than $23,000.

The money will financially support the White family.
