Registered sex offender Richard Juricic allegedly breached conditions of registration

A Wonthaggi registered sex offender has faced court after he allegedly had contact with a child.

A registered sex offender who allegedly failed to report contact he had with a child under 18 will remain in jail until his matters can be resolved in court.

Richard Juricic, 50, appeared in the Wonthaggi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges relating to different alleged offending including allegedly failing to report contact he had with a child, which he is required to do due to being a registered sex offender.

It is also alleged Juricic stole a $57 bottle of scotch from Wonthaggi Dan Murphy’s in August this year.

Juricic is also accused of lighting a fire in February during a fire danger period in South Dudley, Wonthaggi.

It is alleged he did not follow the conditions of lighting a fire during this period.

In court on Tuesday Juricic’s lawyer, Mr James Livy, said he wanted the matter to move forward quickly as Juricic had already spent some time in custody.

Mr Livy also indicated Juicic would plead guilty.

The matter will return to court later this month.
