The Korumburra Golf Club president says a man who broke in and took a golf cart for a joy ride caused significant damage.
Police said a man unlocked a roller door to the club about 2.30am on Friday before riding a golf cart around the course.
President Rob Gallagher says it was a significant blow to the club which had suffered because of Covid-19.
“We have now had to get the locks replaced and changed, another cost which is detrimental to the club. It has already been a difficult time financially for the club, without break-ins added to the mix,” they said.
Police said the cart was located at the back of the course near an exit gate.
Senior Constable David Patterson from Korumburra Police said police would investigate whether there was intent to steal it.
Police are hoping to speak to a caucasian male who appears to be in his 20s. He was wearing tan coloured work pants and a high-vis vest with a hoodie.
