Police chopper helps track alleged stolen car across Phillip Island

Bass Coast locals got an early morning wake up call when a police chopper flew across the region. Find out what we know about the flight.

Some Bass Coast residents got an early morning wake up call on Monday when a police helicopter swooped in low over Phillip Island and San Remo.

The air wing helped track an allegedly stolen car following an alleged carjacking in Officer early Monday morning.

It is alleged three teens, armed with a knife, stole a rideshare vehicle on Majestic Drive just after 2am.

The male driver of the allegedly stolen car was not physically injured.

The car was seen on Phillip Island Rd just after 4am headed toward San Remo.

A low speed pursuit took place and the vehicle came to a stop a short time later.

Three teenage boys, a 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds, were arrested and are currently being interviewed.

There is no threat to community safety.

The chopper could be heard about 4am across the Island, with some locals taking to social media to find out if it was going to be a regular occurrence.

“I need to know if I should play white noise to sleep through it,” one wrote.

Although flight radar had details of the flight blocked people were quick to speculate what the flight was in relation to.
