A police chopper has been circling the Phillip Island area for hours in search for a missing man who may be injured.

It’s believed the 30-year-old was last seen in Cowes at 2am on Thursday.

“There’s concerns for his welfare because he might have hurt himself,” Wonthaggi Police Acting Senior Sergeant Ryan Burns told the Herald Sun.

It’s understood a Police Air Wing has been flying over the Cowes area all morning in an attempt to locate the man.

Anyone who has information of the man’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Wonthaggi police station on (03) 5671 4100 or the Cowes police station on (03) 5952 2037.
