Phillip Island crime: Joshua Savage, Taylor Savage charged with alleged $650k theft

A pair of Phillip Island siblings have allegedly fleeced Bass Coast towns of more than $650,000.

Phillip Island brothers who allegedly stole more than $650,000 from Bass Coast residents and businesses have been charged for their elaborate crimes.

Joshua Savage and Taylor Savage — both 28 — faced charges including theft and trespassing at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on March 4.

In court documents seen by The Bass Coast News, the Savage brothers alleged crimes happened between July 2018 and July 2020.

The brothers allegedly took more than $650,000 worth of cash and jewellery from properties in Inverloch, Wonthaggi, Cowes, Surf Beach, Ventnor, Sunderland Bay and Leongatha.

The most cash allegedly stolen was $300,000 from a person in Wonthaggi.

Joshua Savage was futher charged with dishonestly undertaking in the retention of goods, and dealing with property suspected to being the proceeds of crime.

Both matters were adjourned for a committal mention at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on April 29, 2021.
