Dramatic dashcam footage has captured the terrifying moment a stolen car speds down a freeway, hitting a 25-year-old’s new ute and losing a tyre.

Gage Huson thought it was an ordinary drive to work when a teenage driver allegedly attempted to squeeze between two cars, hitting both and causing him to spin into the barrier.

The stolen car then smashes along the barrier fence.

Mr Huson was travelling along the Princes Fwy in Nar Nar Goon about 7am on May 9 when the other vehicle hit his three-month-old ute.

“It was going over 150km/h and it’s hit the back right side of my car and my car has spun backwards into the barrier,” the 25-year-old said.

“I spent three days in the Alfred Hospital because they were worried I had a neck fracture, but I was discharged and it was just whiplash.”

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit charged two teenagers following the collision.

“Officers were called to the scene following reports the driver of a 2021 Honda CRV wagon, heading towards the city on the Princes Fwy, clipped another vehicle near Fogarty Rd about 7am,” she said.

“The five teenagers in the wagon were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle escaped injury.

“The vehicle was reported stolen from a shopping centre in Mulgrave.”

A 13-year-old boy was charged with theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and commit indictable offence while on bail.

He was remanded to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

A second 13-year-old boy was charged with reckless conduct endangering life and injury, theft of motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, and fail to wear a seatbelt.

He was bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

The spokeswoman said the three remaining teens remained in hospital and were yet to be interviewed.

Mr Huson said despite the lack of physical injuries, the impact of the crash had stuck with him.

“It’s mostly mental trauma, I’ve been getting a lot of flashbacks and severe headaches,” he said.

“I have driven since to pick up and drop off a hire car but it wasn’t fun.”

Mr Huson said his car had to be written off after the collision which had left him $6000 out of pocket.

“I’m still struggling to get the excess waived with my insurance,” he said.

“I’m still off work at the moment because I need a new car to return.”

Mr Huson works in demolition and said it would be good to get back to work to take his mind of what happened.

His sister Brydie has established a GoFundMe to help cover the out-of-pocket costs.
