A 15-year-old girl is in a stable condition after she was flown to a Melbourne hospital following a horror crash in South Gippsland on Monday morning.

Four children were injured in the crash after the car they were in collided with a rubbish truck in Fish Creek on Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Stewart’s Rd and Waratah Rd about 8.30am.

A Victoria Police spokesman said four children were involved in the accident including a 15-year-old girl who became trapped after the roof and side of the car were pushed in.

It is believed a Ford Territory was travelling along Waratah Road near Stewart Road when it crashed into the rear of a truck collecting a bin.

The female driver and 15-year-old girl, both from Fish Creek, were airlifted to hospital.

Three children were taken to hospital by road ambulance with minor injuries.

The truck driver was treated on scene by paramedics.

Investigations are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact police.
